Mira-Bhayandar which also abbreviated as ‘Mira-Bhaindar’ is a city and municipal corporation in Thane district in the state of Maharashtra, India located in the northern part of Salsette Island, and shares a border with North Mumbai.

Mira-Bhayandar is a city in the State of  Maharashtra, India. It’s a municipal corporation in the Thane district & part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) & located to the north of Mumbai Suburban district & in the northern part of Salsette Island. Mira-Bhayandar is administered by Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) &  with a population of Close to 1 million its one of the main satellite cities of Mumbai.

Mira Bhayandar Population – Census 2011

As per the provisional reports of Census India, the population of Mira Bhayandar in 2011 is 8,09,378 (8.09 Laks)  of which the male population is 4,29,260 and the female population is 3,80,118.

The initial provisional data released by census India 2011, shows that the density of Mira Bhayandar for 2011 is 10000 people per sq. km. Mira Bhayandar city administers area is 79.4 sq. km

LITERACY RATE

The average literacy rate of  Mira Bhayandar City in 2011 was 90.98 %. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy was 93.09 % and 88.59 % respectively. Total literate in Bhayandar city was 7,93,360 of which 4,23,122 are males while 3,70,238 are females.

SEX RATIO

Facts Mira And Bayandar

1 The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Council was set up on 12 June 1985 by integrating five Gram Panchayats which included the Mira Gram Panchayat, which is where Mira Road got its name.

2 By 1990, the council was extended and it held the first election resulting in Gilbert Mendonsa becoming the first president of the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Council.

3 Mira Road has a station which was probably built in 1960’s. It was earlier named as miragaon road station and later renamed as Mira road station. Renovation is happening at the station and it will be ready by beginning of 2018

4 Most prominent areas of mira road include Poonam Garden, Shanti Nagar, Naya Nagar, Queens Park, Lodha Complex, Evershine Enclave, Shrishti, Shanti Garden, Shanti Park, Silver Park, Kanungo Estate, Geeta nagar, Geeta Arcade, Pleasant Park, Kanakia, S K Stone, Hatkesh, Khaugalli, Seven Square High School, townie,Ramdev Park,Golden Nest,Indralok.

5 Kunal Khemu (A bollywood actor), he made his acting debut as a child artist in the 1990s and made his comeback as an adult in 2005 with Kalyug. He studied in Niranjanlal Dalmia High School in Mira Road.

6 There are many popular hospitals in Miraroad such as: Thunga Hospital, Bhaktivedanta Hospital, Seven Eleven Hospital, Sanjeevani Hospital, Life Care Hospital, Deepak Hospital etc

7 The rise of Mumbai’s real estate prices has been instrumental in the development of Mira-Bhayandar region. From 1975 onwards, the rise in real estate prices made middle-class people to migrate to suburbs like Virar, Vasai and Nalasopara.

8 Harshaali Malhotra, she played the role of Shahida, also known as ‘Munni’, in a movie ‘Bajarangi Bhaijaan’. She is currently staying in Mira road and studying in Seven Square school, Mira road.
